As we should not hear anything of a case before it appears, or whilst it is sub judice, it is essential that we know why people are visiting to avoid the need for unnecessary recusals.
Sub judice is anything that is under judical consideration and hence prohibited from public discussion elsewhere.
Recusal means that a judge has withdrawn from a case because of a conflict of interest or lack of impartiality. In short, hearing about details of a case outside of Court is frowned upon.
In short, no.
If you require advice and do not have an advocate, contact Guernsey Citizens Advice who may be able to help you.
Whether you are representing yourself (a litigant in person) or you have appointed an advocate to represent you then you need to address all communication with the Greffier as the Clerk of the Court.
Our Greffiers are very knowledgable and will be able to tell you what you need to do for your application.
Again, contact the Greffier who will tell you exactly what you need to do. Similarly they will contact you to give you the date for the Conveyance hearing.
These are timetabled as they are needed. If you are one of the parties in a case you will be given plenty of notice of the hearing. For members of the public we publish a list for the coming week on Monday afternoon. This is both on this website and in the Seneschal's noticeboard by our office.
